The Lost zodiac of Elixia

Elixia is a multi-component board game design project.
The game system, mechanics, narrative, and visual language were developed together as a single cohesive structure.

Concept

The design of Elixia was built through two parallel layers — invention and design. On one side, the process focused on developing new game mechanics: rules, rotations, and a system that could evolve each turn to create a changing experience.
In parallel, the UX and visual design shaped how players interact with that complexity — balancing usability, clarity, and aesthetic immersion.
Every graphic element was designed to serve the logic of play, creating a bridge between storytelling and functionality.

The main board of Elixia was designed to rotate during gameplay, constantly reshaping the map and the strategic routes between the twelve tribes.
This system demanded a highly precise design process — building a circular grid that could stay balanced, readable, and visually rich through every rotation.

The second board’s structure is derived from the zodiac system at the heart of Elixia. Its rotations determine the game’s progression, replacing traditional dice rolls with a shared mechanic that affects all players each round. The visual design was developed around this system, reinforcing a mechanic defined by clear logic, pacing, and purpose within the gameplay.

Each player receives a personal Tribe Guide — a dedicated booklet that defines their tribe’s abilities, symbols, and unique traits. Designed as a quick reference, it allows players to understand their role instantly and navigate the game with clarity throughout play.
